Pinaputok na Tilapia

25 Nov

We bought live Tilapia in the market today. I though it would be a shame to just fry up fresh fish so I thought of making pinaputok na tilapia instead. I know there are a lot of ways to do this recipe.

Pinaputok na Tilapia

2 pieces Tilapia

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 onion, minced

1 small ginger, minced

1 tomato, diced

2 tbsp fresh calamansi juice

2 tbsp soy sauce

  1. Mix the ingredients except for the Tilapia, in a bowl.
  2. Scoop the mixed ingredients and stuff it in the Tilapia’s belly.
  3. Put some of the mixture in a laid out foil, put the stuffed Tilapia on top of it, then put some more mixture on top. Fold the sides of the foil and wrap the Tilapia tightly.
  4. Put it in a pan and cover. Wait 4 to 5 minutes then turn the Tilapia. Cook for another 4 to 5 minutes. You will know it’s cooked when the foil looks like it’s about to pop open.

Ensogo vs PisoBid

21 Nov

Remind me never to buy vouchers again from coupon sites lol!

Voucher #1 from Ensogo:

Only P65 on a Medium-sized California Berry Yogurt (plain or seasonal flavor) with 3 toppings at California Berry, multiple branches (valued at P130)

Valid from: Aug 16, 2011 to Aug 16, 2012
Redeem at: Multiple Branches
Fine Print:

  • For limited vouchers, Ensogo processes only virtual payments i.e., credit cards, Paypal and Bancnet.
  • Voucher is valid for on one (1) Medium-sized California Berry Yogurt (plain or seasonal) with three (3) toppings at California Berry multiple branches.
  • Voucher is valid for twelve (12) months, from August 16, 2011 to August 16, 2012.
  • Purchase is limited to five (5) vouchers per person.
  • For individual use, a maximum of two (2) vouchers can be used.
  • For group use, a maximum of five (5) vouchers can be used.

I bought a couple of these and me and my baby tried to redeem it from their Market! Market! branch. The guy at the cashier said they weren’t given instructions if the vouchers were valid on weekends. Now I don’t see anywhere on the voucher saying you can’t use it on weekends?! It just says Valid from: Aug 16, 2011 to Aug 16, 2012. I don’t blame the guy though, he was really nice and apologetic and he asked us if we could wait as he will contact their manager first. I don’t have time to wait though, so I just paid for 2 cups of frozen yogurt and went ahead to the movie house.

Voucher #2 from CashCashPinoy:

I bought a couple of it as well for me and baby daddy. The voucher says 90% OFF!! Only P550 for a Slim Detox Treatment including Detox Drink and Ultra Lipotherapy at the Zen Institute!! Valid for any Body Part!! I’ve already seen a lot of negative feedback from this one because they said what Zen Institute would be giving you is just a trial treatment. I wanted to confirm it first so I called their branch in The Fort. The girl who answered the phone said it will just be 15 mins of treatment. I asked how long the regular treatment is and she said it’s an hour. I used to work in US sales for almost 5 years and this is definitely false advertisement. You can’t say it’s 90% off because they’re not really giving you a price discount for the regular treatment. Needless to say, I didn’t bother asking baby daddy to drive for me and bring me to Zen Institute for the treatment.

And just this morning when I checked my email, I got this from PisoBid:

I don’t know what happened as to why PisoBid had a fallout with Ensogo, but let’s see how long it takes Ensogo to give me credit for it.

Fish with Tomato and Egg Sauce

1 Nov

This is my version of what they call Sarciadong Isda. This is a very simple dish and you can do this from left over fried fish. They normally cook sarciado without the tomato sauce, but I just added that for that extra tomato taste.

Fish with Tomato and Egg Sauce

1/2 kilo fish

3 cloves garlic, sliced

onion, sliced

tomato, cubed

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup tomato sauce

egg, beaten

  1. Fry fish until golden brown. Set aside.
  2. Saute garlic, onion and tomato.
  3. Add water and simmer.
  4. Add beaten egg and simmer until the egg is cooked.
  5. Add tomato sauce and simmer.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Once Upon A Halloween

31 Oct

Since baby daddy’s on a business trip, I told myself I need to bring my baby out every weekend, especially on Sundays. We’ve been spending the past 2 Sundays having lunch outside, then playing in Bonifacio High Street. This Sunday, I didn’t realize they had an event there. We came just as Wee Nam Kee opened for lunch. This is just the 2nd time I tried their food, 1st time was in Ayala Triangle Gardens. We had Roasted Chicken Rice Personal Set (Php 168), Steamed Chicken Rice Personal Set (Php 168), and Deep Fried Salt and Pepper Spareribs(Php 225). I love that they have a set meal. You can choose from either the roasted or the steamed chicken, and it already comes with rice and soup. For drinks we had the iced fresh barley juice (Php 55).

I prefer the roasted chicken than the steamed one. I wasn’t so much into the fried salt and pepper spareribs though. It was a bit salty for me. But I love the fresh barley juice. Anyone know how to make it at home?

Good thing I kept the receipt because turns out, every Php 500 entitles you to a free photo-op in the Pumpkin Photo Station by Blow Up Babies. Only 100 stubs were given that day. The photo session starts at 1pm though so while waiting, we had some cupcakes at Cupcakes by Sonja. I had Peppermint Patty (Php 68), while my baby had Chocolate Surprise (Php 68).

Peppermint Patty (Php 68)

And so after eating, we had our photos taken by Blow Up Babies. They told us to come back for the photos after 15-20 minutes. Wonder if there’s a way we could get digital copy of our photo? After getting our photos, I decided to check out Fully Booked. Kids get a free face painting session for every purchase of November 2011’s Working Mom. So yeah, I bought one and my kid had a red Angry Birds painted on his cheek. We were supposed to just spend the rest of our day playing in Time Zone, but we saw there was also an event in BHS. For every Php 500 receipt, they have loot bags for the kids. The loot bags contain Angry Birds stuff, and some chocolates, and my kid wants one. So off we went to The Face Shop to buy some some stuff just so he could get a loot bag lol. See my previous post here to check out what I bought. There was a really long line for the loot bags but it was worth it because my kid was very happy about the Angry Birds stuff he got. I let him play around for a while then at around 7pm, we had dinner in T.G.I. Friday’s. I had Friday’s Pork Adobo (Php 435), and my kid had a Hotdog Sandwich (Php 150).

Friday's Pork Adobo (Php 435)

The pork adobo was really good. It doesn’t taste like the typical adobo. It also had a very thick sauce. The hotdog sandwich came with fries and some mixed fruits. Nothing special about the hotdog, my kid didn’t even finish it.

Overall, it was a tiring but fun day. I don’t think I still have the energy to go out until next weekend. I badly need a massage! lol

Late Lunch at Lusso

17 Oct

Me and baby daddy had to run some errands today while the baby is at school. He’s going out of the country for a few weeks for a business trip so we got a lot of stuff to do. After going to the bank, getting driver’s license renewed, and getting the documents needed for his travel, we decided to give the much talked about foie gras burger in Lusso. Lusso is a quaint, little fine dining restaurant in Greenbelt 5. They serve French and Italian dishes.

Php 210

I can’t remember what they call this exactly in the menu, but the server said that this is their bestseller for appetizers. In case you’re wondering what that green thingy is, it’s watercress mixed with Gorgonzola cheese. This is the bomb! We came to Lusso for the burger, but this is definitely what’s gonna make me come back for more.

Lusso Foie Gras Burger (Php 595)
US beef, Cambozola bath, Prosecco onions

We decided to split the burger because it is  quite big. The foie gras is hidden inside the burger pattie, and it comes with some greens with vinaigrette, fries, and melted Cambozola cheese. The burger was good, but you could barely taste the foie gras. Baby daddy couldn’t even taste it at all. Maybe because we like our foie gras more as pan seared or as a pâté.
