Alienware M11x

23 Nov

I’ve been resting for a while now (read: no game addiction). I lost interest in World of Warcraft when Activision and Blizzard merged. Baby Daddy and I felt they made the game easier, thus making it more appealing to casual gamers. But games are going to be launched Q4 and I am alive again! lol

I’ll be playing Diablo 3 beta later today and Star Wars: The Old Republic beta this weekend. So more of those later.

Now on with my Alienware M11x. Performance-wise, I have absolutely no complaints about it. I got this machine last year when Baby Daddy went to Singapore. As you know, electronics are way cheaper there. Shops in the Philippines are usually selling this machine at around PHP 78,000, but if you buy it from Dell, prices start at USD 899. See the huge price difference?

For like the past 6 months though, I noticed it’s getting harder and harder to open and close my laptop. Then 2 months ago, the cover hinge just snapped. The cover got disconnected from the laptop body, and the screen stopped working. Sigh! Right now I’m using it, but I have to hook it up to my LG 42LF20FR LCD. I know right, I need to get a smaller LCD lol! But anyway, I searched online and I found out in forums that this is a known issue with M11x, probably because of the poor quality material that was used. Now the sad thing is, I don’t think they have replacement parts for this here in the Philippines. They probably need to have it shipped first from either US or Singapore. And knowing how much people are overcharging here in the Philippines, it’s probably a lot cheaper if I get a smaller LCD and pimp my computer desk at home.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

22 Nov

I am sooo excited! I got beta access to Star Wars: The Old Republic.

I’m currently downloading the beta client. The game will be launched on December 20, 2011. I’m still unsure whether I’m gonna get the game when it comes out, so it’s a good thing I could play beta first. I will post screenshots when I start playing. I also have Diablo 3 beta access so we’ll see which game would get me more interested. Thank you BioWare and Blizzard for the beta keys. W00t!

When is it ok not to practice the golden rule?

21 Nov

One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself.

I think it’s a matter of personal perception though. I believe what’s good for me is not considered as good for everyone. Other people might want to be treated differently. As long as you know you’re not hurting anyone or you’re not stepping on anyone’s toes, it’s OK not to religiously follow the golden rule.

Ensogo vs PisoBid

21 Nov

Remind me never to buy vouchers again from coupon sites lol!

Voucher #1 from Ensogo:

Only P65 on a Medium-sized California Berry Yogurt (plain or seasonal flavor) with 3 toppings at California Berry, multiple branches (valued at P130)

Valid from: Aug 16, 2011 to Aug 16, 2012
Redeem at: Multiple Branches
Fine Print:

  • For limited vouchers, Ensogo processes only virtual payments i.e., credit cards, Paypal and Bancnet.
  • Voucher is valid for on one (1) Medium-sized California Berry Yogurt (plain or seasonal) with three (3) toppings at California Berry multiple branches.
  • Voucher is valid for twelve (12) months, from August 16, 2011 to August 16, 2012.
  • Purchase is limited to five (5) vouchers per person.
  • For individual use, a maximum of two (2) vouchers can be used.
  • For group use, a maximum of five (5) vouchers can be used.

I bought a couple of these and me and my baby tried to redeem it from their Market! Market! branch. The guy at the cashier said they weren’t given instructions if the vouchers were valid on weekends. Now I don’t see anywhere on the voucher saying you can’t use it on weekends?! It just says Valid from: Aug 16, 2011 to Aug 16, 2012. I don’t blame the guy though, he was really nice and apologetic and he asked us if we could wait as he will contact their manager first. I don’t have time to wait though, so I just paid for 2 cups of frozen yogurt and went ahead to the movie house.

Voucher #2 from CashCashPinoy:

I bought a couple of it as well for me and baby daddy. The voucher says 90% OFF!! Only P550 for a Slim Detox Treatment including Detox Drink and Ultra Lipotherapy at the Zen Institute!! Valid for any Body Part!! I’ve already seen a lot of negative feedback from this one because they said what Zen Institute would be giving you is just a trial treatment. I wanted to confirm it first so I called their branch in The Fort. The girl who answered the phone said it will just be 15 mins of treatment. I asked how long the regular treatment is and she said it’s an hour. I used to work in US sales for almost 5 years and this is definitely false advertisement. You can’t say it’s 90% off because they’re not really giving you a price discount for the regular treatment. Needless to say, I didn’t bother asking baby daddy to drive for me and bring me to Zen Institute for the treatment.

And just this morning when I checked my email, I got this from PisoBid:

Hello Ms. ******,

As a special courtesy, PisoBid is providing you with 24 FREE Bids due to the delay and other problems caused by Ensogo. Although this is very costly to PisoBid, we honor you as a customer and are doing the best that we can to make up for Ensogo’s negligence and delays.

I don’t know what happened as to why PisoBid had a fallout with Ensogo, but let’s see how long it takes Ensogo to give me credit for it.

Shop At Your Fingertips

16 Nov

I love shopping. Lately though, I’ve become too lazy to go out. Sometimes I even feel bad when I buy something because I don’t have that much use for it. I still have pairs of shoes I bought this year that are still unused. Baby daddy bought me some Coach bags when he went to US late October and they’re still in their paper bags lol! Anyway, these are my top 2 sites. I don’t think you can shop via their website, but at least you would know what their new stuff are and the prices are also posted in there. I find it very useful because I hate spending too much time in a shop.

I’ve always loved Mango. Check out some of their new stuff.

Square Neck Dress (PHP 13950)

Straight-leg cropped jeans (PHP 2250)

Animal print t-shirt (PHP 595)

And of course, Zara.

Some of their new stuff.

Tulle dress with sequins (PHP 4990)

Pinstripe blazer (PHP 4590)

How I wish Forever 21 has a local shop site too…

Mommy Mundo Bazaar 2011

15 Nov

The ultimate Christmas bazaar for moms. See you there!

November 19-20, 2011

Let The Battle begin! (part 2)

15 Nov

And so continues the battle of the 2012 planner.

This is one of the planners I’m considering. Paulo Coelho‘s “Moments: Day Planner 2012”.

I saw this in Powerbooks Greenbelt. It was bundled with Paulo Coelho’s new book, Aleph. The package was around PHP 900++. I don’t have any idea though what the inside of the planner looks like. Anyone knows where I could view it online maybe?

Then there’s the Belle de Jour planner.

They have 2 versions, they have one that has book-style binding and the other one has double-wire binding. I had this and the Starbucks planner last year. The Belle de Jour planner costs PHP 598 and can be bought through their website, or in participating National Bookstore and Fully Booked branches. Click here for the updated list of stores you can buy it from. The BDJ planner comes with over 60 coupons. i’ll be honest with you though. I didn’t even come close as to using even half of the coupons so I don’t think I’ll be getting this one again lol!

And then there’s Mommy Mundo‘s Mom 24/7 Planner.

This is another one of my choices. It has separate entries for mom’s and kid’s daily activities. It also has a child info sheet and grocery list. The planner will be available on Nov 19 and 20 at the Mommy Mundo Bazaar in Rockwell Tent (more of that event later lol) for PHP 350. After the event, it will be available in Mommy Mundo’s office in 2/F Fun Ranch, Frontera Verde, Pasig, and online through their website. They haven’t announced yet what retail stores will be selling the planner.
