Once Upon A Halloween

31 Oct

Since baby daddy’s on a business trip, I told myself I need to bring my baby out every weekend, especially on Sundays. We’ve been spending the past 2 Sundays having lunch outside, then playing in Bonifacio High Street. This Sunday, I didn’t realize they had an event there. We came just as Wee Nam Kee opened for lunch. This is just the 2nd time I tried their food, 1st time was in Ayala Triangle Gardens. We had Roasted Chicken Rice Personal Set (Php 168), Steamed Chicken Rice Personal Set (Php 168), and Deep Fried Salt and Pepper Spareribs(Php 225). I love that they have a set meal. You can choose from either the roasted or the steamed chicken, and it already comes with rice and soup. For drinks we had the iced fresh barley juice (Php 55).

I prefer the roasted chicken than the steamed one. I wasn’t so much into the fried salt and pepper spareribs though. It was a bit salty for me. But I love the fresh barley juice. Anyone know how to make it at home?

Good thing I kept the receipt because turns out, every Php 500 entitles you to a free photo-op in the Pumpkin Photo Station by Blow Up Babies. Only 100 stubs were given that day. The photo session starts at 1pm though so while waiting, we had some cupcakes at Cupcakes by Sonja. I had Peppermint Patty (Php 68), while my baby had Chocolate Surprise (Php 68).

And so after eating, we had our photos taken by Blow Up Babies. They told us to come back for the photos after 15-20 minutes. Wonder if there’s a way we could get digital copy of our photo? After getting our photos, I decided to check out Fully Booked. Kids get a free face painting session for every purchase of November 2011’s Working Mom. So yeah, I bought one and my kid had a red Angry Birds painted on his cheek. We were supposed to just spend the rest of our day playing in Time Zone, but we saw there was also an event in BHS. For every Php 500 receipt, they have loot bags for the kids. The loot bags contain Angry Birds stuff, and some chocolates, and my kid wants one. So off we went to The Face Shop to buy some some stuff just so he could get a loot bag lol. See my previous post here to check out what I bought. There was a really long line for the loot bags but it was worth it because my kid was very happy about the Angry Birds stuff he got. I let him play around for a while then at around 7pm, we had dinner in T.G.I. Friday’s. I had Friday’s Pork Adobo (Php 435), and my kid had a Hotdog Sandwich (Php 150).

Friday's Pork Adobo (Php 435)

The pork adobo was really good. It doesn’t taste like the typical adobo. It also had a very thick sauce. The hotdog sandwich came with fries and some mixed fruits. Nothing special about the hotdog, my kid didn’t even finish it.

Overall, it was a tiring but fun day. I don’t think I still have the energy to go out until next weekend. I badly need a massage! lol

Weekend Stash

31 Oct

We had our Sunday lunch in Serendra and turns out they had Halloween activities for kids (more on that later). We needed at least Php 500 purchase each in Serendra and Bonifacio High Street to join their respective activities. Thus giving me a reason to buy something lol

This was what I came home with last night from The Face Shop.

L-R Clockwise: Herb Day Cleansing Foam – Purifying Lemon, Lovely ME:EX Auto Eyebrow in 04, Herb Day Cleansing Tissue

I honestly can’t remember how much each is. The Cleansing Foam was Php 300++, the Auto Eyebrow was Php 200++, and the Cleansing Tissue was Php 95. I’ll put up a review of these as soon as I can.

Lovely ME:EX BB Cream

24 Oct

There’s a lot of fuss about BB creams nowadays so I decided to see what it’s all about. BB or blemish balm cream is said to be the secret of Korean actresses. Notice how natural looking their makeup always is?

The Face Shop's Lovely ME:EX BB Cream

I honestly can’t remember how much I got this for in The Face Shop in Bonifacio High Street, but I’m pretty sure it’s not more than PHP1,000.

This is how the product looks like

How it looks when applied

  • It has a very lightweight feel. Feels like you’re only wearing a moisturizer.
  • Sheer coverage. Good enough to lighten the under eye circles, but not completely cover it.
  • Non-greasy feel. The cream feels like powder after it has dried on your face.
  • Long lasting. Unless you’re staying under the sun for a long time and really, really be perspiring, one application before leaving the house would last you the whole day.
  • Easy on the pocket.
  • One shade only.  May not be suitable for medium to dark skin.
  • Has a flowery scent  to it. Not for those who like fragrance-free products, like me.
Over-all, it was a very good product. Am I going to buy another tube again? Probably, unless I find another BB cream that is fragrance-free lol

Vapur in Powerbooks, Authentic of Fake?

18 Oct

Last weekend, while waiting for my baby daddy in Greenbelt, I went insidePower Books to kill some time, and maybe buy something for my baby. While looking around, I saw the Vapur Anti-Bottles I’ve been wanting to buy.

.5L Anti-Bottle (Hot Pink)

Vapur Anti-Bottles are reusable, foldable, washable, freezable, attachable, and identifiable liquid containers. They are BPA-free (reason why I wanted to buy them). They also come in really cute colors.

I was just wondering why Power Books is selling it for only PHP 35 each. I checked Vapur’s website and they’re selling it for USD 9.99. That’s a huge price difference. Has anyone got an idea if the one’s they’re selling are original, and not fake? Maybe someone from Power Books could verify it?

Late Lunch at Lusso

17 Oct

Me and baby daddy had to run some errands today while the baby is at school. He’s going out of the country for a few weeks for a business trip so we got a lot of stuff to do. After going to the bank, getting driver’s license renewed, and getting the documents needed for his travel, we decided to give the much talked about foie gras burger in Lusso. Lusso is a quaint, little fine dining restaurant in Greenbelt 5. They serve French and Italian dishes.

Php 210

I can’t remember what they call this exactly in the menu, but the server said that this is their bestseller for appetizers. In case you’re wondering what that green thingy is, it’s watercress mixed with Gorgonzola cheese. This is the bomb! We came to Lusso for the burger, but this is definitely what’s gonna make me come back for more.

Lusso Foie Gras Burger (Php 595)
US beef, Cambozola bath, Prosecco onions

We decided to split the burger because it is  quite big. The foie gras is hidden inside the burger pattie, and it comes with some greens with vinaigrette, fries, and melted Cambozola cheese. The burger was good, but you could barely taste the foie gras. Baby daddy couldn’t even taste it at all. Maybe because we like our foie gras more as pan seared or as a pâté.
